Judges

 

All Forms are judged by a panel of 3 judges with 1 Head Judge per Division shown by their place in the Centre of the Table. Where possible all 3 judges should be from different Clubs.

 

All 3 judges must give their own scores and are not to confer at any time. Discussions can only take place once the Division has finished.

 

Judges should wear either Revolution Officials Shirt or Martial Arts Uniform.

 

If a Competitor asks for feedback then the Judge can give it to them, however this can not be forced upon them, if a judge feels there is something of importance to say lease seek out that person’s Instructor so they can choose to pass it on to their student or not.

 

Scoring

 

Score range from 7.0 to 10.0, 10 is only given if you think the Forms is absolutely perfect. 7.0 is only given if the Form is forgotten or the Weapons are dropped. Scores go 7.0, 7.1, 7.2 etc.

 

The Winner is determined by the person with the most Points. In the event of draw the Judges will use the lowest score of each competitors (with the same total score). The Competitor with the “highest” lowest score will be deemed the winner.

 

If a draw is still present the Judges will use the highest score of each competitors (with the same total score). The Competitor with the “highest” highest score will be deemed the winner.

 

If all three judges have scored 2 people the exact same scores then it will go to a blind showing of hands to determine the winner.

 

If there is more than 3 people all on exactly the same score the judges can choose to either pick the winner between the 3 of them or ask for them to perform again, this can only happen on a 3 (or more) way tie with exact scores from each judge.

Minus points:

 

0.1 point: if the competitor interrupts their performance.

 

0.1 point: if the competitor loses completely the synchronization.

 

0.1 point: if the competitor loses their balance.

 

0.1 point if the competitor steps off the mat with 1 foot (only once)

 

Straight 7.0 Score

 

If the competitor performs any disallowed movements.

 

If the competitor breaks off their performance before the end

 

If the competitor loses or leaves their weapon, the minimum score will be given.

 

If the competitor steps off the mat with both feet or with 1 foot more than once unless the Competitor

 

has told the Judges the area is too small beforehand

 

Dress Code & Conduct of Competitor

 

Competitors must wear a Belt & Uniform

 

For Traditional Forms the Competitor must wear a Traditional Dobok or Gi

 

Traditional Weapons must be used not Lightweight Freestyle Weapons

 

Competitors can introduce themselves and their Form but do not have too

 

No Jewellery other than Wedding rings are permitted

 

Any Uniform or Jewellery issues must be picked up on by the Judges before the Division starts (when calling out and lining up), if the Judges are not happy they can ask you to remove your jewellery or change your Uniform. If however the Competitor can not or will not change here is the down marking procedure

 

0.5 points for incorrect Uniform or Weapons

 

0.1 points per item of jewellery excluding Wedding rings.

 

Time Limit

 

The Form/Kata should have a minimum time of 30 seconds and a maximum time of 3 minutes. Junior Grades & Ages can be shorter, please take age and experience into consideration.

 

Other Points

 

If you are a Black Belt in a Freestyle Art but currently studying a Traditional Art you can enter as a Coloured Belt (in Traditional Section) as long as you can prove you are studying the Art as appose to just learning Forms to enter extra divisions. You can only perform the level of Kata/Pattern relevant to the belt you hold in the Traditional Art

 

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN FORMS

 

Each Form should be entered in the right division and performed in the correct manner with the correct attire adhering to the rules below.

 

Traditional Kata & Patterns

 

Traditional Japanese Kata & Korean Patterns from recognised Traditional Systems. Please be aware these do have slight variations and you are marking the performance and can not penalise an adaption that a Group or Association may have made. Wrong movements can be penalised of course.

 

Freestyle/Creative Forms

 

Martial Arts movements done in a Creative way. Club suits are accepted. Can not be a Traditional Form. No Gymnastic Movements

 

Musical Forms

 

Same as Creative however can have music and can use Gymnastic movements with no limit on numbers

 

Traditional Weapon Forms

 

Traditional Weapons Kata, performed in a Traditional Way, with a Traditional Uniform and with Traditional Weapons.

 

Freestyle/Creative Weapon Forms

 

Lightweight Weapons can be used in this but no releases. Club Suits are accepted. The Weapon must not be released from the Competitors hand.

 

Musical Weapon Forms

 

Same as Creative but releases are permitted and with no restriction
